Those who discriminate against people with mental illnesses should be ashamed

Those who discriminate against people with mental illnesses should be ashamed!!!

Hi, I would like to hear your stories of being discriminated against for having a mental illness. Please feel free to share!

Thanks,
April B

Hi again,
I love this quote, My i polar is part of me. I choose a long time ago not to let bi polar rule my life. I have done some pretty stupid things from manic episodes but I am a survivor. I want you to now if your reading this and your down or manic. Please know it is ok and you will get threw it in time. When I get manic or depressed. Mostly I get manic. Instead of doing something dumb. I will get into my favorite hobbies such as sewing, photography and scrapbooking. These things tend to calm me. I now if i focused on all the bad things that go wrong with me then I would be total basket case. My advice is find a hobby and stick to it. Find something you enjoy!!!!

I chose the name "It is ok to not be ok" as the tittle for my blog because someone once told me that her normal was not my normal and that was ok. this lady is in an authoritative position and is highly trained in mental health. Having been diagnosed with bi polar since the age of 13. As I am now 43 years old. That one statement improved my way of thinking more than any counselor or psychiatrists could have done for me. I wanted to start a daily blog to share my life and how I manage it day by day. A little bio info on myself is that my name is April. I am 43. I am married to the girl that is the love of my life.I am a mom of two girls. One whom is 20 and one who is 17 years old. I absolutely dig sewing, crafts, photography and psychology. I gained my BA in psych in 2011 and almost made it to my masters but ha to have emergency surgery and was at the end of my financial aid. But it ok for as I over the years in college learned more about myself than anything. I am permanently disabled due to the bi polar but I do not let it get in my way of enjoying life. So for now, Nice to meet everyone that reads this blog post!
